It is traditional before Lent begins to have the devotion of 40 hours of silent adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament in reparation for the excesses of Carnival.  We will begin modestly this year with six hours.  Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will follow the 12:10pm Mass, beginning 6 hours of adoration ending with Benediction at 6:00pm.  Please sign up at the entrance of church if you plan to attend, so we can ensure someone will be present at all times.  We need at least two people signing up for each hour.

"While we are all bound to attend Mass and yearly receive Jesus in Holy Communion, we are encouraged to express repeatedly our deepest love to our Redeemer in the Blessed Sacrament.  To Jesus is due all our love and praise, all glory we can render, every beating of our heart.  Holy Church helps us to glorify the Divine Bridegroom.  It is Holy Church which has organized those splendid processions in honor of Jesus, those solemn Adorations during a whole day in every parish, to thank Jesus for His unspeakable love towards us and to make reparation to Him as far as possible for the sinful ingratitude of mankind." -- taken from the 1962 Roman Missal
